Text Box: Doxology of the UNION!

All Hail the UNION! Purveyors of all that is pure and good! May all educators excellent and incompetent be sanctified and protected by the UNION's mercies. To Tennessee Education Association, we humbly submit our children. May no person speak unkindly of an incompetent teacher! All Hail the UNION!

For there is no god, other than the great and powerful EVOLUTION, permitted in education, HIS ministers are the UNION and HIS trinity is time, consensus and ignorance.

Text Box: It’s not that we consider your input invalid. It’s just that you can’t fire us; so we don’t give a crap about you, your child or your problems. Just agree with us, shut up and leave us alone. Even if 90% of that teacher’s class is showing substandard performance, it’s not the teacher’s fault. You are just paranoid, and we will never let you know that any one teacher is flunking a large number students. Besides, we know that you can’t afford a lawyer and we know that you can’t influence all five of our personal friends, the ELECTED School Board Members since they answer to us anyway. So! Up yours!!!

Thanks to Douglas Adams for giving a unique description about bureaucrats in his series the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.  “According to the series, far back in prehistory, when the first primeval Vogons crawled out of the sea, the forces of evolution were so disgusted with them that they never allowed them to evolve again. Through sheer stubbornness, though, the Vogons survived, wrecked the planet, and emigrated en masse to the Megabrantis cluster, where they form most of the Galactic bureaucracy, most notably in the famous Vogon Constructor Fleets (which allows them a socially-acceptable way to spend their time demolishing things). This excerpt was copied from  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Races_and_Species_in_The_Hitchhiker%27s_Guide_to_the_Galaxy#Vogons

The repulsiveness as described can be correlated with central office administrators.  These are folks that you, as the taxpayer, do not hire yet they are fully entrenched in their positions.  I have thus far come across a salary for these people.  My assumption is that these people do not do the lay work that a teacher does but makes more money due to the unionization of the education system.  These people are usually insiders of intercommunity politics and want nothing to do with the common folk.  When a problem arises that needs attention, parents have found that many of these people are conveniently unavailable.  As with the Adam’s Vogons, who chant, “Resistance is futile,” some central office administrators repeat incessantly, “WE will be in control!”

Central offices exist to carry out the instructions of the board of education and advise school board members how to spend money and determine which new fad in education to try out on our children.  After all, if they are “the experts” on education then they would be the advisory group of the school board.  To work in an administrative position, these men and women are also indoctrinated and bound by the Tennessee Education Association licensure.  These people also must sugarcoat every issue and throw any problems back on the citizens.  Together these people obviously put their heads together for the sole purpose of securing illiteracy for our children.

If you look at the personnel that work in the central office on the website, http://sevier.org, you will see more degrees than a rectal thermometer.  The argument being that the more degrees a person has the more money that you have to pay these bureaucrats.  Their degrees and their pay seemingly have no value to the children of the community.  As proof, I point to an editorial in the Mountain Press that declared that Gatlinburg-Pittman had 7 National Merit Scholars to graduate in 2007 out of less than 1000 enrolled students while Sevier County High School with almost 2000 students could not produce even 1 National Merit Scholar.  It should be apparent that all of the administration in the world does not encourage adequate teaching on the part of the teacher or superior learning on the part of the student.
