Text Box: Doxology of the UNION!

All Hail the UNION! Purveyors of all that is pure and good! May all educators excellent and incompetent be sanctified and protected by the UNION's mercies. To Tennessee Education Association, we humbly submit our children. May no person speak unkindly of an incompetent teacher! All Hail the UNION!

For there is no god, other than the great and powerful EVOLUTION, permitted in education, HIS ministers are the UNION and HIS trinity is time, consensus and ignorance.

Basic Director of Schools Summary

This person used to be called a superintendent.  Once this person had to be a citizen of the community willing to head the direction of the schools.  In 1992, Tennessee changed the law to allow a school board to appoint one.  Now this person is another “licensed,” highly-paid person.  By doing this, the state legislature helped Teacher’s Unions by eliminating influences from the common folk (elected officials.)

Salary:  +$100,000 or better.  Work is year round!

Who is this guy?

In a perfect world, a superintendent, or director of schools,  would be a commensurate leader capable of inspiring everyone around him to greatness.  He/she could manage his/her time wisely and guarantee that the students are getting the educational input that they need.  All of the students of the school system would know this person on site and be comfortable in approaching him or her.

Today most people can identify a local d.j. from a radio station faster than they can the local director of schools.  My seventh grade daughter can identify the starring cast from the Disney Channel Movie High School Musical but has never seen the director of the Sevier County school system.

In the Hamblen County School system, I could remember Herbert Harville, the ELECTED superintendent, coming by the classes several times a year.  If he was anything, he was involved.

Suppose that you have a problem.  If you start climbing the ladder, the leadership structure, would it not be nice for a true leader to own up to the problem and have that director of schools call you. That effort on the part of a true leader would be noticeably nice.
