Why Do I Have Two Downloadable Versions?
When compiling this page, I did not want to assume that everyone had a copy of Microsoft Word. This program is extremely expensive. Sometimes when a computer is purchased, the computer has Microsoft Works which in some instances has a different word processor than Microsoft Word. Sometimes a new computer comes with a version of Microsoft Word that is simply a trial version.
OpenOffice.org is a FREE version of the StarOffice suite from Sun Microsystems. This office suite is comparable to Microsoft Office Professional (versions ’97—’03.) The website is Openoffice.org. This full-featured suite can be downloaded for different operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Mac, Solaris, and BSD.
Since our purpose is to aid quality education, as an added bonus, schools can download and install OpenOffice.org on all computers and not have to worry about the cost of licensing fees. |
